I also know that I could use my SSD drive using the external enclosure, but since the main reason why I wanted to do that was to get a snappier OS (which does work great on the 365GB partition), using my SSD externally will not help for that. If the Xbox acts the same as Windows, it makes a huge difference to start fresh, or to restart from a backup. I know that I can clone my OEM hard drive, but I would prefer to start as new as possible. I found a 2020-02 version, ran the script, got all the partitions created, put it into the Xbox, reinstallled the offline update, booted the Xbox and, same result. Since all of this didn't work, I gave the scripts a try. I even tried to manually format the space partition to map what the OEM 1TB drive had, which was about 781GB, but same result. I then tried once again the offline update using the same method, booted myXbox, same issue. I thought I had formatted incorrectly my SSD, so I took the Xbox appart one more time, recreated the partition of my drive with Windows using a USB enclosure and this time, I did not format it at all. If I'm not mistaken, it's about the same size as the 500GB Xbox version. Only today, I realised that my Xbox One has now only 365GB of free space.
So I took my XboxOneX appart and swapped the drives, installed my newly NTFS formated SSD drive and booted the Xbox in the "restore" mode (hold both Eject + Sync, then Power), installed the offline update and got the Xbox booting without any issues. I've followed tutorials on the net, some older ones needed scripts, newer ones said that scripts were not needed anymore. I decided to replace the stock 1TB HDD of my Xbox One X.
